About Me

For more than fourteen years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping adolescents, young adults, and families navigate the challenges that can make life feel overwhelming, stuck, or uncertain. My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with honest connection—feeling seen, understood, and supported while being gently challenged to grow.

Sam Verutti, LCSW, LAC

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addictions Counselor with more than fourteen years of experience working with adolescents, young adults, and families across wilderness therapy, residential treatment, boarding school, and community mental health. I’ve served as an adolescent therapist in wilderness therapy, a lead clinical therapist in residential treatment, and a clinical director at a boarding school, where I oversaw treatment planning, crisis response, and the clinical development of staff.

These experiences have shaped a holistic, systems-oriented approach to care—one that recognizes the connection between individual experiences, relationships, and the larger systems in which we live. I value practical skill-building, emotional resilience, and healthy family connection, while recognizing that meaningful change looks different for everyone.

My therapeutic style is warm, direct, and relationship-driven. I strive to create a space where clients can show up authentically, make sense of their experiences, and rebuild confidence in their ability to navigate life’s uncertainty. I integrate DBT, CBT, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, experiential work, and family systems approaches to help clients develop insight, practice new skills, and move toward meaningful change.

Whether I’m supporting a teen learning to navigate emotions, a young adult working through identity and transition, or parents seeking guidance, my goal is the same: to help people better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and feel more capable of navigating life with intention.

As the founder and owner of Introspect Coaching, I also work with clients who are looking to identify and move through obstacles, strengthen communication, and build more meaningful connections with themselves and the people around them.

Background & Clinical Path

My path into this work began with my own experiences in wilderness therapy and residential treatment. I learned early on what it means to step away from familiar routines, face uncertainty, and do the vulnerable work of looking inward. Those experiences gave me a personal understanding of what it feels like to be challenged, supported, and encouraged to grow—and they continue to shape the empathy, respect, and steadiness I bring to my work with clients.

After those formative experiences, I moved into the outdoors professionally, leading backcountry expeditions and mentoring young people. I saw firsthand the powerful impact that presence, connection, and challenge can have on growth. Those years became an important foundation for my clinical approach and ultimately inspired me to pursue formal training as a therapist.

For more than fourteen years, I’ve worked with adolescents, young adults, and families across wilderness therapy, community mental health, school-based programs, residential treatment, and boarding school. Along the way, I’ve worked as a field guide, case manager, therapist, and clinical director. Each role has deepened my understanding of the complexity of human behavior and reinforced the importance of collaboration, family systems, and individualized care.

Through all of these experiences, one belief has remained constant: people grow best when they feel genuinely seen, supported, and empowered to take meaningful steps forward.
